2016 50/50 Draw Proceeds Supporting Jumpstart Program

In 2016, we introduced a 50/50 Draw with Evergreen Park with our proceeds going to the Jumpstart Program. Jumpstart is Canadian Tires National Charity that follows the belief that all kids deserve to play.  Jumpstart is made up of over 200 individual community chapters across the country.  In Grande Prairie, we partner with local organizations such as Big brothers, The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta, YMCA, The Township of Valleyview and the Grande Prairie Public School District to identify children who are being held back from participating in sports or recreation due to financial constraint. From there we are able to fund the individual child to participate or in some cases, we have created community development programs to help many children at once participate.  Although Jumpstart is a national charity, our chapter is run as a local charity. Our fund raising occurs locally and all of the funds raised stay local. Our chapters have no overhead costs so 100% of the funds that individuals donate stay here to help children participate in all sort of activity from swimming, hockey, and gymnastics to hula-hoop,  juggling and girl guides.
